The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a political and economic collaboration between ten Southeast Asian countries. It was originally founded on August 8, 1967 by Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. In the half-century since then Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam have joined.
